A facility required significant repairs to a deteriorated silo foundation supporting fertilizer and grain storage operations, with approximately 50 feet of the existing concrete needing removal and replacement due to long-term exposure to moisture, chemicals, and environmental stress. To restore structural integrity while minimizing downtime, the repair team from Green Future Structural Innovations, experts in silo restoration, selected Denso 190DP Epoxy Grout as a high-performance alternative to traditional concrete.

The repair process began with saw-cutting and square-cutting the damaged concrete to remove all unsound material and create clean, well-defined edges. Once the substrate was properly prepared and reformed, the Denso 190DP Epoxy Grout was mixed and poured up to approximately 18″ deep in one lift, where it bonded seamlessly to the existing concrete and conformed to the required repair geometry. Unlike conventional concrete, which can require seven or more days to cure, the epoxy grout cured and set within hours, allowing the project to move forward quickly. This rapid strength development enabled the application of an epoxy topcoat within the same day, providing additional surface protection and extending the service life of the repair.

The Green Future team did a fantastic job, and the completed system will deliver superior performance compared to standard concrete repairs, offering higher strength, excellent adhesion, and enhanced resistance to chemical exposure, water intrusion, UV degradation, and freeze-thaw cycling. These benefits are particularly critical in fertilizer and grain handling environments where aggressive chemicals and harsh weather conditions can accelerate concrete deterioration. By using Denso 190DP Epoxy Grout, the project achieved a faster turnaround, reduced downtime, and a durable, long-lasting repair solution designed to outperform traditional concrete in demanding industrial applications.

BENEFITS

  • Superior durability and performance, especially important for fertilizer and grain tanks due to chemical exposure and environmental conditions.
  • Final product is more resistant to water, UV, and freeze-thaw damage than standard concrete repairs.
  • Improved project efficiency and turnaround time.
  • Up to 18″ in one lift with low exotherm properties.
